Quick Start
This guide takes you from a fresh sign-in to a saved contact with a follow-up reminder in about five minutes. It uses manual entry so it works everywhere; once you've done it once, the scanner and import paths will feel obvious. Have the web app or the Android app open and be signed in (see Account & sign-in).
1. Create a contact
- Open Contacts from the main navigation.
- Tap Add contact.
- Enter a name and at least one phone or email. Phone numbers are validated and formatted as you type.
- Optionally add a company, title, and city.
- Save.
You now have a contact. The fields you skipped stay empty and editable — nothing is required beyond a name and one way to reach the person.
2. Add context: a tag and a note
Open the contact you just created.
- Add a tag — for example
leadorevent-2026. Type to create a new tag or pick an existing one. - Write a short note — where you met, what they asked for, the next step.
Tags drive segments and filtering; notes are searchable, so a detail you jot down today is findable later even if you forget the person's name.
3. Set a follow-up reminder
Still on the contact:
- Choose Add reminder.
- Pick a quick template (Follow up, Send quote, or Book call) or write your own title.
- Set a due date and time, and a priority.
- Save.
On Android, you'll get a notification when it's due (after you allow notifications the first time). On the web, the reminder appears in your Today / Upcoming / Overdue views.
4. Find it again with search
Go back to Contacts and type part of the name, company, tag, or even a word from your note. SnapContact uses fuzzy matching, so you don't need the exact spelling — a close guess finds the right person.
5. (Optional) Try a faster capture
Now that you understand the shape of a contact, try a quicker path:
- Scan a business card — see Scan a business card. The camera reads the card on-device and pre-fills the fields for you to confirm.
- Capture from WhatsApp Web — see Capture leads from WhatsApp Web if you've installed the extension.
- Import in bulk — see Import your existing contacts to bring in a whole list from Google, Excel/CSV, or vCard.
What you've learned
You created a contact, attached a tag and a note, set a reminder that surfaces in the Today view, and found the contact again by fuzzy search. That loop — capture, add context, schedule the next action — is the whole point of SnapContact.
Frequently asked questions
What's the minimum I need to save a contact? A name and one phone or email. Everything else is optional.
Will I get notified about the reminder? On Android, yes, once you allow notifications. On the web, due items appear in your Today/Upcoming/Overdue views.
Do I have to type contacts in? No — manual entry is just the most universal path. Scanning, WhatsApp capture, and import are all faster for the right situation.
Can I edit a contact later? Yes. Open it and edit any field, tag, or note; the per-contact timeline records the changes.
