Insights & analytics

Insights is a set of charts and reports computed over your own contact list — growth over time, segment breakdowns, tag distribution, where contacts came from, and how your network connects — that show real numbers from your data, not placeholder trends. When you have no data yet, the charts say so with an honest empty state rather than drawing a fake line.

What you can see

ViewWhat it shows
GrowthHow your contact count grows by week, month, and year.
SegmentsBreakdown of your contacts by tag-based segments.
Tag analyticsWhich tags you actually use across your contacts.
Source attributionWhere your contacts came from (scanner, WhatsApp, import, manual).
NetworkA map and metrics of how your contacts relate, plus an activity heatmap.
ReportsA builder to assemble the figures you care about.

These live on the in-app Insights surface and are reached from the dashboard.

Honest empty states

A recurring design choice: SnapContact does not invent placeholder data to make charts look full. The growth chart stays empty until you add contacts; the tag chart populates only once you start tagging; an engagement score over a contact with no history is honestly low rather than a flattering default. This keeps the numbers trustworthy — what you see is your data.

Per-contact insights

Beyond the list-wide views, individual contacts carry their own signals on the contact-detail screen: engagement scoring, a quality score, and similar metrics derived from the contact's real timeline activity. An empty history produces a low, honest score, not a fabricated one.

Privacy of analytics

Insights are computed over the contacts in your account. They are separate from the product-usage analytics SnapContact collects to improve the app (which are covered in Data & privacy). The charts you see in Insights are about your contacts, for you.

Frequently asked questions

Is the data in Insights real or sample data? Real — it's computed from your own contacts. Empty states are shown when there's nothing to chart, instead of placeholder trends.

What can I measure? Growth over time, segment and tag breakdowns, source attribution, network relationships, and an activity heatmap, plus a reports builder.

Are there per-contact metrics? Yes — engagement and quality scores on the contact-detail screen, derived from that contact's timeline.

Do Insights share my data? No — they're computed over your account's contacts and shown only to you.
